No Shoe Zone in the Sun Banner
This banner incorporates several classic Sloop elements — the declaration of a No Shoe Zone, suns and turtles — giving us a warm weather feel but in a tone that feels decidedly non-tropical. This sets the piece apart from much of Sloop’s oeuvre.
Large letters in brick red and forest green, outlined in goldenrod add a hardy, masculine touch to the No Shoe Zone in the Sun banner. Deep shades of navy, magenta, and coral make up the background color.
The turtles are practically hidden behind the word NO while the suns are prominently stacked down the center of the piece in color. Another sun in the bottom left corner appears more subtly and in relief.
